We gather to learn from and connect with one another
Be a congregational connector
We can’t do this work alone — not in our congregations or our communities. It takes all of us working together, supporting each other, sharing knowledge, providing accountability, and rooting ourself as Unitarian Universalists.
Deepen your commitment to our collective work for justice by volunteering with MUUSJA as a Congregational Connector. This means serving as a liaison between your congregation, MUUSJA, and other UU congregations. Being in relationship grows your effectiveness, capabilities, commitment, and capacity. Plus, it makes the work more meaningful and fun!
Why say yes?
Are you passionate about social justice and eager to make a tangible difference? Are you curious about spiritually grounded organizing? Are you ready to expand your skills? Are you excited about building relationship with other amazing UUs?!?
As a Congregational Connector (CC), you play a crucial role in fostering collaboration, communication, and engagement between MUUSJA, your home congregation or fellowship, and other UUs. Congregations with a CC are exponentially more active in MUUSJA programs and activities and more connected with other UUs—and this helps you and your community gain more confidence, courage, and organizing power. You are part of a whole network who are putting our faith into action.
The Congregational Connector program:
- increases our capacity to engage the many unique UU communities in our network by building relationships between and among us
- gives our isolation, anguish, and fear a break by coming together and following Love’s call for Justice in tangible, spiritually nourishing ways
- intentionally explores what a spiritually grounded approach to social justice action and organizing looks and feels like
Our Congregational Connectors make the “Alliance” part of MUUSJA come alive!
How it works
Our goal is for every UU congregation in our network to have 1-2 people serve as a Connector. Participants come together once a month via Zoom to strengthen connections, practice vulnerability, and provide space for sharing our collective wisdom and power around spiritually grounded social justice work.
MUUSJA highlights pertinent activities that we are hosting or amplifying. We also stay connected throughout the month through occasional community emails.
Our expectation is that CCs share relevant opportunities, information, and inspiration with your congregation. You know what your community needs and how details can best reach your people.
Who would be good for this role
Someone who is …
- actively engaged in a UU congregation within MUUSJA’s network
- available to regularly attend Zoom meetings on the first Monday of the month. We understand that sometimes things come up
- regularly responsive to email
- a people person and enjoys connecting with others
- pretty good at interacting with folks who have different views or priorities
