Unleashing courageous leadership and collective power
to realize a just and loving world.
In our current political climate, it is more important than ever to show up in strong support and solidarity with all of our Muslim siblings who are currently experiencing persecution, discrimination, hateful rhetoric, and acts of violence in many of our Minnesota communities. Because of the high percentage of Muslims in Minnesota who are also people of color, this hatred and violence is taking place at the intersection of racial and religious discrimination. How are these two distinct marginalizations compounding in some people's lives?
We will be joined by a few of our Muslim siblings here in the Twin Cities area so that we can gain a better understanding of what some Muslims are experiencing here in Minnesota—both before and after the election of our most recent President! We will explore how to be an ally in the struggle against injustices that are not directed toward us. As non-Muslims, how do we respond mightily against anti-Muslim rhetoric?
We will be meeting online on Monday, March 20th from 7:00-8:30pm. Please register here for this free event so that we know who to expect. We will be using an online video-conferencing software called Zoom (details below).
We invite UUs around the state to join virtually gather with us to learn about a social justice issue or leadership topic together. Convening calls are free and open to anyone, and are held using Zoom video/teleconferencing software each month.
